10.31.10 HALLOWEEN

Today we had a costume-clad student council meeting. We went over who was doing what in terms of costume contests, candy counting, and whatever else was going on on this Halloween Night (day).

We also prepared for Thanksgiving by making can drive posters. If you wanted to make a poster at home, this is the information you should want to put on it:

CAN DRIVE
NOV. 1st- THANKSGIVING

BRING CANS TO YOUR HOMEBASE TEACHER...

or some variation of that. Thank you for coming, and for dressing up for Halloween!

Our next meeting is going to be Wednesday November 3rd for OFFICERS ONLY.

10.22.10- Notes from meeting

Today we decided what we're doing for Halloween.

1. Costume Contest, where the kid's judge the TEACHERS costumes
.
2. Guess the Amount of Candy.

Garrett and Anna talked to Mr. Knight and we will not be doing the Haunted Alley.

For the Costume Contest- you see the teacher's costumes in the morning, whenever you can (most people see them in the hall, at least) and then you vote during lunch. Someone will be there supervising the voting. Votes will then be counted 7 or 8th period and the winner will be announced 9th. The teacher who wins will be given a prize (candy bar?).

For the candy guessing we would have a jar of Halloween candy (candy corn?). At their lunches people would pay 25 cents to guess the amount of candy in the jar. Whoever has the closest estimate would win the jar of candy.  The winner would be announced 9th period and we would take the candy to them at their 9th period class.

We need people to...
Supervise voting for the costume contest during lunches (4th, 5th, 6th period)
Make posters to advertise the events
Supervise and collect money for the candy guessing at lunches (4th, 5th, 6th period)
Find closet estimation for candy guessing game during 7th or 8th period.
we will decide who is doing what at our next meeting which is...

Our next meeting will be Wednesday, October 27 at 8:10 am.

Notes from Meeting- 10/20/10 REMINDER: MEETING THIS FRIDAY

Thanks to everyone who attended this mornings meeting during home base. We talked about what we want to do for Halloween and then voted.

The 5 ideas that we came up with were...

1. Sell orange beads- Sell orange "Halloween" beads all day that week. Charge 25 cents per necklace.

2. Candy guessing game- Have a certain number of pieces of Halloween candy in a jar. Pay 25 cents to guess how many pieces there are. You can guess as many times as you want. The person with the closet estimation wins the jar of candy. Do activity during lunches that week. Find and announce winner Friday.

3. Trick or treat notes- Pay 25 cents to send a piece of candy and a note to a friend. Student Council members sort and then deliver to students 9th period Friday. Sell all week during lunches.

4. Haunted Alley- Have a "alley" in the auditorium that students pay an amount of money to enter and go down. Have all student council members bring in decorations and set it up that morning before school.

5. Costume Contest- The kids judge for the teachers. Have students vote in lunches for the teacher they think has the best costume. Count votes by 9th period and have it announced. Does teacher win prize?

Just a reminder- there is a meeting this Friday, October 22nd, for all officers. (That includes homebase reps). Remind all of your friends also.

Welcome to Student Council, 2010!

If you are a member this year, feel free to contact us about what we're missing on this blog.
If you're not, I hope you find the information you're looking for. So far nothing's been posted, but that will change after our first official meeting with all of the elected officers. (This Friday, October 22, at 8:10 am.)

Thanks to all of you who voted last Friday.  If you want to be a Homebase Representative, the elections for that will be held within the next week in your Homebase. All information you need to know regarding Student Council will either be posted here or on the bulletin board outside Mr. Kaltman's room.
